Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve 2009 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve is one of the true icons of the Southern Rhône, winner of frequent 100-point scores from critics, and of effusive praise from enthusiasts of full-flavoured French reds. The Daumens family has been farming the estate in the northern section of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation since the early 1900s. Winemaking is overseen by Jean-Paul Daumen who practices a low-intervention winemaking regime - no sulphur is added during vinification, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. The domain`s flagship CNDP Reserve is produced from 100% Grenache from tiny-yielding centenarian vines. "This captures terrific ripeness, intensity and density with stunning mouthfeel, as layer upon layer of fig sauce, braised plum, cassis, cherry eau de vie and pastis glide along together, with notes of spice, ganache and graphite hanging in reserve. The very long finish has cut and precision, despite its weight. Should age effortlessly." Wine Spectator, 2012

"The 2009 Cote Rotie La Belle Helene is another perfect wine. Made in a completely different style than the more structured, mineral-laced 2010, the 2009 is a flamboyant, exuberant effort with nearly over-the-top ripeness and fruit. However, it is extremely supple, sexy and bursting with complexity, revealing notes of truffles, graphite, black raspberries, espresso roast, spice box, tapenade and bouquet garni. The wine’s richness, full-bodied, massive fruit impact and 50-second finish are amazing." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2012
