 The 2018 Eleven Confessions Vineyard Syrah is a blend of 82% Syrah, 10.6% Grenache, 5.3% Petite Syrah and 2.1% Viognier, made entirely of estate fruit. The grapes come from Sine Qua Non`s estate vineyard, Eleven Confessions, located in the Santa Rita Hills appellation of Santa Barbara County. The cool, maritime-influenced climate of this region contributes to the elegance and balance of the wines produced here. The vineyard`s sandy loam soils add complexity to the wine. It is a rich, full-bodied expression, boasting notes of blackberries, blueberries, and black cherries, along with hints of black pepper, smoked meat, leather, and liquorice.

 Domaine Guigal, founded in 1946, is a legendary name in the Rhône Valley, and its Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is one of its finest expressions. The 1999 vintage is a full-bodied, single-vineyard wine made from 100% Syrah, sourced from the 2-hectare La Landonne vineyard on the Côte Brune. The wine is vinified in stainless steel and aged for 42 months in new French oak, which imparts depth and complexity. Deeply concentrated, it offers aromas of blackberries, cassis, smoked meats, and earthy notes. On the palate, it’s powerful and rich, with a silky texture, vibrant acidity, and a long, persistent finish. This wine exemplifies Guigal’s mastery of Côte-Rôtie, showing great balance and structure, with excellent ageing potential.  La Combe des Fous Châteauneuf-du-Pape Clos Saint Jean 2007 is a full-bodied Grenache-based red wine from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the southern Rhône Valley. Clos Saint Jean is run by brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel and is considered among the very finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. La Combe de Fous translates as ‘the hill of the fool’ and is a reference to their great-great-grandfather, Edmund Tacussel, who in 1905 planted Grenache vines in one of the hilliest and most inhospitably stoney sections of the iconic Le Crau sub-region. It is this ancient-vine fruit that forms the backbone to this cuvée, a remarkably rich yet velvety wine that rides the perfect line between immense power and beguiling elegance. The 2007 is available here in magnum format.

 Vérité was founded in 1997 by the late visionary Jess Jackson and long-time Bordeaux vigneron, Pierre Seillan. In just over 20 years, the winery has managed to forge a reputation for itself as one of the most consistent producers of elite level fine wine from Sonoma County, California. They produce just three wines - La Muse, La Joie and Le Désir - all of which are based on the traditional varieties of Bordeaux.

La Joie is made in the mould of the great wines of Pauillac and the Left Bank. The 2013 vintage was utterly sublime and this is a rich, complex and creamy blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Drink now until 2065.

 Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 2021 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced from Syrah grapes in the northern Rhône Valley. With prized vineyard holdings in the cru of Hermitage (as well as St-Joseph), Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is the pre-eminent name in northern Rhône winemaking. Current custodian of the domaine, Jean-Louis is, almost incredibly, the 16th generation of Chave family winemaker. "As is usually the case, I was able to taste the new vintage in its individual components, which is an incredible lesson in the terroir of Hermitage, and I continue to believe this is one of the most educational tastings I do every year. All of the samples for the 2021 Hermitage rated between 93 and 95, and this should be a classic, more medium-bodied, elegant, yet still substantial Hermitage. All of the single parcels show classic, textbook characteristics and possess ripe tannins and outstanding purity of fruit. I suspect this wine will be in the mould of the 2014, possibly the 2004. From the sensational 2013 vintage it is a blend of 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 3% Malbec. It is possibly a candidate for one of the best wines every released by this winery and has near limitless ageing potential.
