£500.00
Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2007 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley. Château de Beaucastel is one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 1989 saw the debut release of the flagship wine, Hommage à Jacques Perrin, which is only made in the best years and has production of around 350 cases on average. "The star of the show was the 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage À Jacques Perrin, which in this vintage is a classic blend of 60% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, and the rest Counoise and Grenache. Inky coloured and insanely perfumed, with to-die-for notes of lavender, Provencal herbs, roasted meats, black cherries, truffle, crème de cassis and liquorice, it flows onto the palate with massive concentration, a stunning mid-palate and a thick, rich texture that never gets heavy or cumbersome. This is blockbuster stuff that just could not get any better. Drink it anytime over the coming 3-4 decades." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2015

Abreu Madrona Ranch 2012 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard, Bordeaux-style red wine from the Napa Valley of California. Madrona Ranch was purchased by David Abreu in 1980. The vineyard encompasses a wide variety of soil types, from red Aiken volcanic soil to white tufa to dark clay. Long-term Abreu winemaker Brad Grimes selects grapes meticulously and vinifies in small batches according to the terroir of particular sections of the vineyard. This offers greater options when blending and ensures a high level of complexity and balance in the final wines. On the 2012. "One of those rare, heavenly wines we’re lucky to be able to taste and drink, the 2012 Madrona Ranch is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon yet has a big chunk of Cabernet Franc (45%) and 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot. It offers an incredible perfume of crème de cassis, spring flowers, liquid violets, spice and tobacco that continues to change and develop with time in the glass. Powerful and full-bodied, yet seamless and elegant, it has sweet, polished tannin, an opulent, weightless texture, and a finish that won’t quit." Jeb Dunnuck, 2017

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2009 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve is one of the true icons of the Southern Rhône, winner of frequent 100-point scores from critics, and of effusive praise from enthusiasts of full-flavoured French reds. The Daumens family has been farming the estate in the northern section of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation since the early 1900s. Winemaking is overseen by Jean-Paul Daumen who practices a low-intervention winemaking regime - no sulphur is added during vinification, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. "This captures terrific ripeness, intensity and density with stunning mouthfeel, as layer upon layer of fig sauce, braised plum, cassis, cherry eau de vie and pastis glide along together, with notes of spice, ganache and graphite hanging in reserve. The very long finish has cut and precision, despite its weight. Should age effortlessly." Wine Spectator, 2012
