14.5% ABV
£1,930.00
The 2005 Château Haut-Brion is utterly sublime and continues to highlight why this is consistently regarded as one of the greatest producers in Bordeaux. Comprising 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, it is a seamlessly balanced wine, with notes of mineral-laced black fruits, cedar, tobacco and violet flowers. Rich, complex and long, yet unerringly pure, elegant and fresh, this is a classical expression of Haut-Brion with at least 30-40 years ahead of it.

Taylor’s Vintage Port is only made in the very finest years and is blended from the best parcels of fruit from the firm’s own estates Quinta de Vargellas and Quinta de Terra Feita. The 1992 was the first declaration for Taylor’s since 1987 and is perhaps one of their greatest ever releases. Robert Parker Jr awarded it a perfect 100-point score, describing it is “the essence of what vintage port can achieve” with “awesome fruit, marvellous intensity, and lavish opulence, all brilliantly well-delineated by the wine’s formidable structure”.

Pavie Magnum 2000

Pavie Magnum 2000

HED90815

150 cl
13.5% ABV
£1,190.00
Château Pavie is one of the finest wine producing estates in St-Émilion. A monumental wine and undoubtedly one of the best the château has ever produced. Dark, intense, ruby-red colour, a very fresh nose, with lots of very ripe, juicy berry fruit as well as refined toasty notes. The 2000 vintage shows us that a strong oak influence marries very well with Pavie`s fruit in full-bodied vintages. 2000 Pavie is very smooth and suave on the palate with a great balance between tannin and acidity. The mouthfeel is wonderfully velvety. Concluding on a long and spicy finish, with a hint of cocoa.

Danish-born nephew of Peter Vinding-Diers, Peter Sisseck, rented 10 acres of old Tempranillo/Tinto Fino vines in the heart of Ribero del Duero to create the magnificent Pingus, the first vintage of which was the 1995. Quintessentially Spanish, made using 100% Tinto Fino from extremely low yields, this is a wine with unique concentration, balance and length. The perfect harmony of ripe fruit, beautifully integrated tannins and elegant floral complexity. Superb.

Since the 17th century, the grand vin of Château Margaux has been recognised as being one of the greatest wines in the world. 1996 was an exceptionally late harvest and produced incredibly powerful, muscular and long-lived wines. Composed of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, this is an incredibly complex wine really only just beginning to hit its stride. It has immense layers of deeply concentrated fruits, superb mineral tension and fine, lacy tannins, with an extraordinarily long finish of outstanding precision and freshness. Perhaps one of the most complete expressions of Margaux ever released, available here in half-bottle format.

£335.00
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 2008 is a full-bodied Syrah from the iconic hill of Hermitage in the northern Rhône valley. With prized vineyard holdings in the cru of Hermitage (as well as St-Joseph), Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is the pre-eminent name in northern Rhône winemaking. Current custodian of the domaine, Jean-Louis is, almost incredibly, the 16th generation of Chave family winemaker. "Soft garnet. Elegant and perfumed on the nose, so different from the 2012, at the moment anyway. This has Syrah’s savoury dark fruit but also its floral side. Powder-fine tannins with excellent freshness. A beautiful wine still in its infancy. Long and refined." Jancis Robinson MW, 2017
