Ermitage Blanc Cuvee de L`Oree Chapoutier 1997

Ermitage Blanc Cuvee de L`Oree Chapoutier 1997

HED2180

75 cl
13.5% ABV
£290.00
Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc Cuvée de L`Orée 1997 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Marsanne white wine from the Hermitage appellation of the Northern Rhône Valley. The Chapoutier winery founded in 1808 by the Calvet family was sold to the Chapoutier family in 1855. It has since become one of the biggest companies in the Rhône Valley both as a producer and a négociant, with activity across all of the major appellations. Cuvée de l’Orée is 100% old-vine Marsanne from a single organically and biodynamically cultivated plot of Hermitage called Les Murets. All fruit is hand-harvested, 50% vinified in 600-litre wooden barrels and matured on lees for 6 months, with additional ageing before bottling. "It is no secret that I adore Chapoutier`s luxury cuvee of white Hermitage called Cuvee L`Oree. Made from 90-year old vines and microscopic yields of 10-12 hectoliters per hectare, this wine flirts with perfection. It is a compelling white Hermitage. Made from 100% Marsanne, it is as rich and multidimensional as the fullest, most massive Montrachet money can buy. It is unctuously textured, yet extraordinarily and beautifully balanced. I suspect it will drink well early in life, and then shut down for a few years. It should last for 4-5 decades. It is a huge, chewy, multidimensional wine with spectacular concentration and richness. Notes of white flowers, honey, minerals, and peaches are present in astronomical quantities. In short, this wine must be tasted to be believed." Robert Parker, 1999

The 9-acre Kayli Morgan vineyard is situated at the base of Howell Mountain and has been the basis of Hundred Acre’s wines since their debut vintage in 2000. "The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan Vineyard has a medium garnet-purple colour and is a little closed to begin, giving up red and black currants, violets, lilacs and spice box plus chocolate-covered coffee beans, menthol, tilled soil and cardamom. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house, with loads of floral sparks and a very long, mineral-laced finish. Through the roof." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2018

Since 1995, superstar boutique producer, Lokoya, has produced an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon from the steep, mountainous Veeder Peak estate vineyard which sits at 1,800ft in elevation. The 2015 is a brilliant release, exhibiting an immensely deep core of black fruits with subtle inflections of dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and exotic spices. There is youthful appeal here if given a lengthy decant, however, the best will be revealed over the next 15-20+ years.

Clos Erasmus 2005

Clos Erasmus 2005

HED83970

75 cl
15% ABV
£625.00
Clos Erasmus 2005 is a full-bodied red blend produced in the Priorat region of Catalan Spain. With a reputation for being the finest example of Priorat on the market, this 70/30 blend of Garnatxa and Syrah is produced from specific organically farmed parcels on the Clos i Terrasses property. "The 2005 Clos Erasmus is produced from three vineyard sites originally terraced by the Greeks. The current blend is 85% Garnacha and 15% Syrah with a long-term goal of making a 100% Garnacha wine. The wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak. It is super-fragrant with aromas of crushed stone, slate, cinnamon, baking spices, cassis, kirsch, blueberry, and wild black cherry. Perhaps a bit tighter than the 2004, on the palate there is a liquid minerality that must be tasted to be believed. Opulent, harmonious, and awesome are words which really cannot do justice to this extraordinary vinous achievement. In a perfect world, purchasers would have the patience to cellar it for 10-15 years but this will be a severe test of one’s ability to delay gratification." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2008

La Romanée-Conti Grand Cru is a monopole vineyard of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and is often singled out as Burgundy’s greatest terroir. Originally called Cros des Cloux, this hallowed vineyard has a long and illustrious history, but its more modern era began with the first new vintage bottling from DRC in 1952, after replanting of the vines in 1947-48. 2005 was a remarkable vintage in Burgundy and this must surely go down as one of the finest ever releases of this wine. Twice rated by The Wine Advocate, it has been awarded 99 points both times.
