Established in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, E. Guigal is a prominent and leading winery based in the Rhône Valley. Positioned on the western banks of the Rhône River, Guigal is situated close to the renowned sun-drenched slopes of the Côte Rôtie, where their iconic flagship wines, ‘La Landonne’, ‘La Mouline’, and ‘La Turque’ are crafted. The 2005 ‘La Mouline’ is showing an incredibly complex and fascinating nose, including dark ripe raspberries, blackberries, leather, bacon, iron, white pepper, toasted wood and vanilla notes. The oak is still evident, but no longer overpowering. A very concentrated wine, with delicate and fine-grained tannins, and endless finish.

Benchmark for Côte-Rôtie excellence

Founded in the village of Ampuis by Etienne Guigal in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley, and is often seen as a benchmark for Côte-Rôtie Syrah. A pioneer of the single-vineyard concept in this appellation Guigal is best known for its top three wines, known affectionately as the 'La-Las', which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque – the domaine's top Syrah vineyards .

Other notable vineyards of this 75-hectare estate include La Doriane (the source of Guigal's Condrieu), Ex-Voto (used for Hermitage) and Vignes de l'Hospice (the source of one of Guigal's top St-Joseph Syrahs). All of these have become benchmark wines of their respective appellations. The Crozes-Hermitage appellation completes the roster of Northern Rhône estate vineyards.

Since 2006, Guigal has made a substantial investment in appellations of the Southern Rhône, using top-quality purchased fruit from trusted growers in Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and the Côtes du Rhône.
