 Based in Ventura County, Sine Qua Non is a cult winery known for its Rhône-style wines, particularly Syrah and Grenache.  The Chave family has reportedly been producing wines in the Rhône Valley since 1481 and is unequivocally one of the most famous producers of Hermitage. Cuvée Cathelin is an ultra-exclusive luxury wine which made its debut with the 1990 vintage. It is named after a close family friend, artist Bernard Cathelin, and is produced mostly from Syrah from the Les Bessards lieu-dit with an extended period of maturation in new French oak. Only made in selected vintages production is strictly limited to around 200 cases. The 1990 is an enormously concentrated and rich wine with remarkable layers of fruit and savoury complexity.

 Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir 2004 is a medium-bodied single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Marcassin estate on California`s Sonoma Coast. Founded in 1991, Marcassin (French for ‘young wild boar’) is a small winery that focuses solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Having worked or consulted for some of California`s finest wineries (eg, Peter Michael, Colgin and Bryant), the talented owner/winemaker and co-founder Helen Turley, is one of the most influential figures in Californian wine.

“To quote my original tasting note, the 2004 Pinot Noir Marcassin Estate is -utterly profound.- Still youthful, this adolescent hits all the sweet spots on the palate as well as the olfactory senses. Dense plum/purple-colored with notes of Asian soy, porcini mushrooms, roasted meats, barbecue spices and lots of blueberry, plum, raspberry and black currant fruit, it is a deep, full-bodied, opulent tour de force in winemaking.  The ‘Madonna delle Grazie’ Riserva is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are also known as ‘Brunello’ in Montalcino. The Riserva designation indicates that the wine has undergone extended aging compared to the standard Brunello di Montalcino. In this case, the wine is aged for a minimum of five years, with at least two years in oak barrels and another six months in the bottle before release. The 2013 vintage in Montalcino was characterized by a cool, wet spring followed by a warm, dry summer, which led to a slightly later harvest. Despite the challenges, the vintage produced wines with excellent structure, balance and aging potential.

 The Grand Vin of Château Margaux 2019 is a truly excellent vintage. In the words of the critic James Suckling, "Amazing aromas of crushed stones and wet soil with fresh mushrooms, then going on to violets and other flowers. Dark fruit, too. Full-bodied, yet agile and fine, with a linear flow of tannins that run through the center of palate. The finesse of the tannins is exceptional, like raw silk and changing all the time. Cool and energetic, yet reserved. Zen-like. 37% of the production and 90% cabernet sauvignon, 7% merlot, 2% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. So well balanced that you can drink it now, but this is one to leave for a decade and more. Ethereal."
