£4,850.00
Petrus is perhaps one of the most revered wines in the world and is often considered the pinnacle of the Pomerol appellation. Almost always made from 100% Merlot, the style of Petrus is unique and in the best vintages often achieves levels of aromatic complexity, richness and silky texture that others simply cannot. It is an exceptionally long-lived wine and can often require significant cellaring before reaching maturity and expressing its true essence.

The stellar 2018 vintage was awarded an 100 point score by critic James Suckling, describing the vintage as follows, "This wine leaves me speechless. It has so much intensity and density with fantastic ripe fruit with spices, dark berries and walnuts and hazelnuts Currants and licorice. Violets and earth. Full-bodied, very, very tannic yet polished and beautiful. Lasts forever on the palate. Reminds me of the great 1998."

Sassicaia Magnum 2021

Sassicaia Magnum 2021

HED96585

14% ABV
£900.00
Sassicaia 2021 is a full-bodied Supertuscan red wine produced in the Bolgheri sub-region of Tuscany in central Italy. Sassicaia is the flagship of Tenuta San Guido and an icon of Italian wine. The super-concentrated 2021 vintage (a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc) is the finest of recent years and a 100-point wine for several leading critics. Available here in magnum format. "Here it is. A quintessential Sassicaia that represents the excellence of the vintage and also respects the unique taste profile of this distinguished Tuscan blend of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc... Redcurrant, blueberry, sweet pomegranate and Rainier cherry run strong in this vintage. A fragrant hint of heritage rose emerges with time. The oak tones are geared toward gingerbread, hazelnut, cigar, sandalwood and something like a grilled sweet red pepper. To the palate, it offers nice weight with no heavy glycerin, and a rinse of acidity that adds to the wine’s natural energy, brightness and viscosity. That marked freshness opens the wine up to long aging potential, but you still need to give it more time in bottle." Wine Advocate, 2024

Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 1998 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley and is often seen as a benchmark for quality Côte-Rôtie. The top three wines from Guigal are known affectionately in some circles as the La La`s, which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne made its debut in 1978 and is produced from 2 hectares of Syrah on the Côte Brune, vinified in stainless steel and aged in 100% new French oak for up to 42 months. "The 1998 Cote Rotie La Landonne is a perfect wine ... at least for my palate. Its saturated black/purple colour is accompanied by an extraordinary nose of smoke, incense, tapenade, creosote, blackberry, and currant aromas. It is densely packed with blackberry, truffle, chocolate, and leather-like flavours. The wine possesses high tannin, but perfect harmony, impeccable balance, and gorgeous integration of acidity, alcohol, and tannin. It is a tour de force in winemaking." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2002

This is a profound and deeply structured wine, bursting with dark cherry, blackberries, and Provençal herbs, underpinned by notes of spice and cured meats. With its immense concentration and still-vibrant acidity, the tannins remain impressively firm yet refined. Pingus 2021, the esteemed flagship red from Dominio de Pingus, is crafted by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck in Spain`s Ribera del Duero region. This vintage is composed solely of 100% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), sourced from a mere 5 hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards, where vines are often over 65 years old. The low yields from these ancient vineyards contribute to its distinctive character. The wine undergoes 20-22 months of ageing in French oak barrels, resulting in a profile marked by dark fruit nuances and intricate herbal undertones.
