The 2013 Madrona Ranch is a classic Abreu wine. Deep, powerful and explosive, the 2013 possesses tremendous depth and textural intensity to burn. The sheer intensity of the fruit pretty much buries the potent Madrona Ranch tannins. Ripe dark plum, leather, tobacco, incense, licorice and dried herbs are some of the notes that build into the explosive finish. It's hard to imagine that a wine could be both seamless and virile, but this is. Antonio Galloni9th May 2024

Terroir Driven Cabernet Sauvignon

David Abreu established his eponymous winery in the 1980s, purchasing the Madrona Ranch and converting it into a mix of farmland and vineyards. The Thorevilos and Capella vineyards were added a few years later and Las Posadas, a Howell Mountain vineyard, was added to the estate's holdings in the year 2000. The result is something quite unique in Napa - a collection of distinct sites all producing world class, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker for the last 20 years is former chef turned viticulturist Brad Grimes. Brad keeps the focus of the estate firmly set on the founder's original goal - to emulate the finest wines of Pauillac and Margaux. Based on the long waiting list and never-ended near-perfect critic scores, he's hit a home run in that department.
