Delas Hermitage Les Bessards 2010 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced from Syrah grapes in the northern Rhône Valley. "Pure Hermitage magic, the 2010 Hermitage Les Bessards comes from the western side of Hermitage Hill and pure, gnarly, steep, broken granite soils. It takes time to open up but reveals a vivid ruby hue as well as a gorgeous perfume of red and black fruits, crushed stone, spring flowers, incense, camphor, and burning embers. Full-bodied, dense, concentrated, and powerful, it has thrilling tannins, perfect balance, and a finish that won`t quit. A sensational, heavenly, seamless Hermitage, it can be drunk any time over the coming 30 years or more." 100 points, Jeb Dunnuck, 2022

£580.00
Founded in 1991, Marcassin (French for ‘young wild boar’) is a tiny winery located on the Sonoma Coast that focuses solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Having either worked or consulted for some of the region’s finest wineries (e.g Peter Michael, Colgin and Bryant), the supremely talented owner and winemaker, Helen Turley, is considered to be one of the most influential figures in Californian wine.

For the Marcassin Vineyard Chardonnay, grapes are harvested before sunrise to retain maximum freshness, followed by whole-cluster fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maturation on lees in 100% new Francois Freres oak barrels for 12 months. The 2008 release received high praise from critic Robert Parker, who bestowed it with a perfect 100-point score and drinking window up to 2026. Given this wines remarkable complexity and capacity to age, it would not be surprising if it far surpassed that estimate.

Since 1995, superstar boutique producer, Lokoya, has produced an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon from the steep, mountainous Veeder Peak estate vineyard which sits at 1,800ft in elevation. The 2013 is a 100-point follow-up to the equally adjudged perfection of 2012. Built with the same remarkable intensity of fruit, impeccable balance and sensational complexity, perhaps this just has an extra level of structural fibre which may require a little longer in the cellar to soften.

£410.00
Shafer Hillside Select 2012 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon red wine from the Stag`s Leap District AVA of Napa, California. Shafer’s flagship wine, Hillside Select is produced from low-yielding Cabernet vines growing on rocky, volcanic soils on hillsides above the winery. The 2012 was matured in 100% new oak for 32 months. "This can generally be expected to be one of the top dozen or so Cabernet Sauvignons in virtually any vintage in Napa, and certainly possesses 25 to possibly 50 years of aging potential. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is a perfect wine. It elicits more than a few `wows` when you smell the incredible notes of charcoal, graphite and subtle toast, buttressed and dominated by blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry fruit. The purity of these fruits, the multidimensional mouthfeel, the seamless integration of acid, alcohol, tannin and wood are all flawless. The 2012 signature adds an extravagant opulence and density that is just mind-boggling, and the wine is a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on already, although it has 30+ years of life ahead of it." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2016
