Château La Conseillante 2020 is a Right Bank Bordeaux produced by Château La Conseillante in the appellation of Pomerol. Château La Conseillante produces some of the most sought-after wines in Pomerol. Its Merlot-focused vineyards neighbour those of L`Evangile, Petit-Village, Vieux Château-Certan and Cheval Blanc. Winemaker Marielle Cazaux has maintained the property`s upward trajectory since her arrival in 2015. "One of the wines of the vintage is the 2020 La Conseillante, a blend of 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc that wafts from the glass with inviting aromas of raspberries, red cherries and mulberries mingled with exotic spices, violets and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, it`s a beautifully elegant, sensual wine with a deep core of fruit framed by powdery tannins, concluding with a long, extravagantly floral finish. This is a Pomerol of striking purity and sophistication. Congratulations to Marielle Cazaux and her team for surpassing even what they achieved in 2016 and 2019 with this brilliant 2020!" Solaia, distinct from its Sangiovese-based sibling Tignanello, is crafted primarily from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape on the same estate. The initial two releases in 1978 and 1979 were exclusively blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The incorporation of Sangiovese occurred in subsequent vintages as Marchesi Antinori refined the wine. The 2015 vintage boasts an exceptional nose, combining blackberries, violets, and leather. On the palate, it unfolds with successive waves of concentrated black fruits, supported by precise acidity. This is a sleeping giant of a wine.

Hermitage Rouge Chave 2010

Hermitage Rouge Chave 2010

HED12105

14.5% ABV
£740.00
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 2010 is a full-bodied Syrah from the Chave family`s vineyard holdings on the iconic hill of Hermitage in the northern Rhône valley. With prized vineyard holdings in the cru of Hermitage (as well as St-Joseph), Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is the pre-eminent name in northern Rhône winemaking. Current custodian of the domaine, Jean-Louis is, almost incredibly, the 16th generation of Chave family winemaker. "Pure perfection, the 2010 Hermitage reminds Jean-Louis Chave of their 1990. It appears to be a richer, fresher example of what I remember the 1990 tasting like in 1992. The wine exhibits an opaque purple colour along with an extraordinary bouquet of sweet blackberry fruit intermixed with creme de cassis, lead pencil shavings, acacia flowers, bouquet garni, meat and crushed rocks. Full-bodied and stunningly rich with laser-like precision, this is a powerful, massive yet exceptionally well-balanced wine that should be forgotten for a decade and drunk over the following 30-40 years." 100 points, Wine Advocate, 2012

£375.00
Don PX Convento Selección Toro Albala 1946 is a sweet wine produced from Pedro Ximenez grapes in the ~Montilla Moriles region of Spain. Arguably one of the greatest sweet wines ever produced, this extra-mature PX is a testament to the ageing potential and complexity that Pedro Ximénez wines can achieve. "The 1946 Don PX Convento Seleccion produced with Pedro Ximenez grapes dehydrated under the sun at the time of the Second World War, was only bottled in September 2011. This is an extreme wine, my first descriptor was ultra-mega-super concentrated. It is unbelievably powerful, both in the nose and the palate, full of umami, with sweet cinnamon, Christmas cake, camphor, petrol, lemongrass, Belgian chocolate and butter. Incredibly complex and rich, sweet, balanced and smooth in the palate, it is both very sweet and somehow salty, and with time it develops a black olive note. It combines the texture of the 1962 and the elegance of the 1949. It is as decadent as it gets. 825 bottles were produced. This wine will survive all of us. These wines are kept for generations and offered in very small quantities, but it’s amazing that you can still buy and drink something so old, and I’m even tempted to say that it might represent good value for what it is. A real tour de force sweet wine. Drink it if you ever have the privilege to do so from 2013-2060." 100 points, Luis Gutierrez, 2021
