Volnay Santenots

The 29ha Santenots is situated on a gentle, south and south east-facing slope composed of chalky, stony iron-rich red soil. This differs from the rest of Volnay and is a contributing factor in the pronounced structure and richness of the Pinot Noirs produced here. The vineyard is divided into four lieux-dits: Santenots-du-Milieu (generally considered superior), Les Santenots-Dessus, Les Santenots-Blanc and Les Pleures.

Notable producers with vineyard parcels in Santenots include Domaine Leroy, Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Benjamin Leroux and Domaine Jacques Prieur.
