A 300cl double magnum from Château Angélus, the 2014 vintage represents the estate`s dedication to both Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with a balanced split of 50% each. Located in the Saint-Émilion appellation, the winery is renowned for its rich history and recognition as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A. The growing season observed a cool summer followed by an extended warm autumn, facilitating the advancement of Cabernet Franc`s ripening. This wine, exhibiting an alcohol content of 13.5%, underwent ageing in 100% new French oak barriques. It presents characteristics of blackberries, blue flowers, and hints of toasted vanilla. The larger format promises a more gradual evolution of its complex, earthy notes, emblematic of the Hubert de Boüard stewardship.

Having only been a Denominación de Origen since 1989, Bierzo is a relatively new wine appellation but it is blessed with some remarkable old vineyards. It was these that attracted the legendary Priorat winemaker, Álvaro Palacios, to the region. Alongside his nephew, Ricardo Pérez, he founded Descendientes de J. Palacios in 1998, and together they have rapidly gained an incredible reputation for their fragrant and elegant wines made from the local red variety, Mencia. Vérité was founded in 1997 by the late visionary Jess Jackson and long-time Bordeaux vigneron, Pierre Seillan. In just over 20 years, the winery has managed to forge a reputation for itself as one of the most consistent producers of elite level fine wine from Sonoma County, California. They produce just three wines - La Muse, La Joie and Le Désir - all of which are based on the traditional varieties of Bordeaux.

La Joie is made in the mould of the great wines of Pauillac and the Left Bank. The 2013 vintage was utterly sublime and this is a rich, complex and creamy blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Drink now until 2065.
