 Joseph Phelps Insignia 2007 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend from the Napa Valley of California. The family-run Joseph Phelps Vineyards was founded in 1973. Over more than four decades, Joe Phelps has transformed the winery into a Californian icon which consistently produces critically acclaimed wines - the proprietary Insignia red being the prime example. This wine was first produced in 1974 and has received four perfect 100-point scores from Robert Parker (for the 1991, 1997, 2002 and 2007 vintages). The 2007 vintage is available here in magnum format. "Deep garnet coloured with a lingering hint of purple, the 2007 Insignia Proprietary Red Wine reveals the most seductive crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and liquorice notions with touches of violets, eucalyptus, chocolate box and unsmoked cigars plus a waft of cedar chest.  Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve 2000 is a full-bodied Grenache red wine from the southern Rhône Valley. Domaine Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve is one of the true icons of the Southern Rhône, winner of frequent 100-point scores from critics, and of effusive praise from enthusiasts of full-flavoured French reds. The Daumens family has been farming the estate in the northern section of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation since the early 1900s. Winemaking is overseen by Jean-Paul Daumen who practices a low-intervention winemaking regime - no sulphur is added during vinification, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. "The 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve (15.5% alcohol; 100% Grenache) is a wine of magnificent intensity as well as majestic texture and richness. Layers of concentrated fruit cascade over the palate. Opaque purple-coloured and extremely full-bodied, with a gorgeous nose of minerals, white flowers, black fruits, pepper, and garrigue, this sumptuous, seamless 2000 Chateauneuf must be tasted to be believed." A blend, typically, of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvedre, Cuvée de Quet is the flagship wine of the certified-biodynamic Mas de Boislauzon. Expect ripe, full-bodied and lushly hedonistic Chateauneuf.

 Château Lafite Rothschild 2003 is a First Growth red wine from Pauillac in Bordeaux. This double magnum displays aromas of graphite, cedar and blackcurrant, leading into a full palate with a broad texture and an alcohol level of 12.9%. Such concentration is a direct result of a historic heatwave, though the estate`s deep gravel soils and proximity to the Gironde estuary helped maintain balance in the vines. Winemaking involved a shorter maceration than usual to manage tannin extraction from the ripe fruit. The blend consists of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
