Richebourg

Richebourg is in fact divided into two lieux-dits - Les Richebourgs and Les Véroilles – the latter, with shallower soil and a slightly more elevated position, produces slightly more mineral wines (NB: appellation regulations dictate that the names of these lieux-dits cannot appear on labels). The vineyard faces east and is characterised by pebbly clay and sand soils over limestone subsoil.

Richebourg produces some of the most haunting Pinot Noirs on the Côte d’Or – wines of a voluptuousness, density and longevity which is arguably only matched by the great La Tâche. Although Domaine de la Romanée-Conti owns by far the majority of Richebourg, the vineyard is split between nine other owners. These include Domaine Leroy, Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Domaine Jean Grivot and Domaine Hudelot-Noellat.
