Situated in the village of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – or simply DRC – is the world-famous wine producer that needs no introduction. Since 1942 the estate is co-owned by two families, the de Villaine and the Leroy, with Alexandre Bernier in place as cellar master following the retirement of Bernard Noblet in 2018. Only grand cru wines are produced here, including this Richebourg, made from a 3.51-hectare parcel. The 2010 vintage is showing a powerful nose of dark fruits, earth, spices, mushrooms and mineral notes, even a touch of iron. The palate is robust yet superbly elegant, where the fruit and spices stand out.

The 2010 Richebourg Grand Cru has an open, exuberant nose with dark berry fruit, bergamot, Earl Grey and crushed stone, seeming to "billow" with aeration. Fabulous delineation. It frankly puts all the preceding Richebourg wines in the shade. The palate is beautifully balanced and poised, finely tuned with a crescendo of red fruit and a perfect bead of acidity. This grips the mouth and doesn't let go, becoming more and more pixelated in the glass. Magnificent. Tasted at the Richebourg vertical dinner in Taipei. Neal Martin17th June 2025
