For many fine wine aficionados, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is the pinnacle of wine. Run for many years by the indefatigable Aubert de Villaine, the domaine consists of 25 hectares of biodynamically tended vineyards, all of which are of Grand Cru classification and include some of the greatest terroirs in Burgundy. A rare find on the shelves here at Hedonism, the 1998 displays complex layers of red and black fruits together with coffee and chocolate nuances and framed by bright acidity.

Vinous
Very good deep red-ruby. Pungent, expressive aromas of raspberry, black cherry, redcurrant, espresso and bitter chocolate. Very rich, sappy and deep, with chewy extract and lovely vinosity. Possible to taste right now owing to its sheer harmoniousness. Juicy framing acidity gives clarity to the flavors. Finishes very long and strong, with building but ripe tannins. This will benefit from eight to ten years of bottle aging but should be superb.
