Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos de la Marechale

Located at the southern end of the Premeaux, bordering Chambolle-Musigny, the vineyard was owned by the Mugnier family from 1902 until it was leased to Domaine Faiveley as part of a share-cropping agreement in 1950. Frédéric Mugnier then resumed full ownership in 2003, since when the wines of Clos de la Marechale have attracted ever greater interest from Burgundy aficionados.

Mugnier produces both reds and whites in Clos de la Maréchale – though the volume of white is low. In some vintages, a second red wine, Clos des Fourches, is also produced. The walled vineyard faces east, with the vines growing on clay-limestone soil with a high proportion of oolitic limestone pebbles. Noted for its delicacy and finesse, the Pinot Noir of Clos de la Marechale typically possesses an exquisite Pinot perfume, with soft fruit and silky tannins.
