Cecile Tremblay Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes 2008 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Vosne-Romanée appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Domaine Cécile Tremblay is located in Morey St Denis and comprises vineyard holdings that stretch from Gevrey-Chambertin to Nuits-Saint-Georges, covering 11 appellations up to Grands Crus. The great-grand-daughter of Edouard Jayer, uncle of the legendary Henri Jayer, Cécile Tremblay took over her family domaine in 2002-3, working organically from the very start. On the 2008 Vosne-Romanée VV. "There is no reduction here and an expressive and quite pretty nose of red berry fruit aromas, spice hints and lovely notes of violets merges into round, elegant and relatively refined medium-bodied flavours that possess good mid-palate concentration and while the finish is on the dry side, it could be an unintended effect of the ample gas this is still carrying as the underlying tannins appear to be adequately ripe." Moderately saturated medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas of black cherry, acidulated red berries, violet and chocolate, plus a whiff of pineapple. Juicy, classically dry and precise, with pliant flavors of black cherry, spices and pepper. Boasts lovely inner-mouth floral perfume and finishes broad and long. Cecile Tremblay noted that the tannins were easy to extract in 2008 due to the high acidity of the vintage.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2011
