Vintage 2008

Undoubtedly 2008 was positive for much of Bordeaux (in particular Pomerol), Burgundy (whites over reds) and Alsace, the best properties producing classically styled wines suitable for medium-term ageing. 2008 was particularly memorable for Champagne, which produced what many critics regard as the finest vintage of the 21st century. The year was similarly superb for the sweet wines of Tokaj.

Cool but ultimately favourable conditions in Rioja, Piedmont and Tuscany yield 2008 wines with intense aromatics, fine acidity and firm structure. Many of these wines, in particular those from Barolo, have entered their prime drinking window
