Coche-Dury is a well-established domaine in Meursault, whose white wines have reached almost-mythical status. The domaine was originally established in the 1920s by Léon Coche and today cultivates around 9 hectares of vineyards. Coche-Dury produces a number of single-vineyard village Meursaults, including this cuvée from Les Rougeots. The 2008 vintage reveals a beautiful and complex aroma profile, with minerals and dry honey. On the palate, the wine is focused, with a firm and tight citrus acidity, all leading to a persistent finish.

The 2008 Meursault Les Rougeous from Coche-Dury is fabulous. Creamy and textured, the 2008 offers up scents of tangerine oil, mint, apricot, chamomile and tropical fruit. Time brings out more lifted, floral notes to complement the wine’s natural richness. I love the density and depth here. Best of all, the 2008 remains young and vibrant, with another decade of fine drinking ahead of it. While nothing from Coche-Dury qualifies as inexpensive these days, the Rougeots does offer tons of pedigree without the price tag of the very top wines. It’s a gorgeous wine that is in its sweet spot right now. Antonio Galloni5th December 2022
