Latour Martillac Blanc 2000 is a Cru Classé de Graves from the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This white wine is primarily a blend of Sémillon (50%) and Sauvignon Blanc (48%), with a small portion of Muscadelle (2%). The grapes are sourced from the estate`s vineyard, which benefits from gravelly soils that enhance drainage and ripening. The wine was aged for 15 months on fine lees and 10 months in barrel, 30% of which were new.

Typical of this vintage (which produced great reds but average quality whites), the dull, monolithic 2000 Latour-Martillac reveals nice fruit on the attack, but it falls off quickly in the mouth. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
