This barrique of Tormore was filled on 23rd May 2025 into a freshly seasoned 225-litre Merlot barrique at a natural strength of 63.60% ABV. The influence of the French oak barrique is set to complement Tormore’s orchard-fruited profile with layers of red berry richness, gentle spice, and a subtle tannic structure, adding depth and complexity as the spirit matures. With roughly 220 litres of new make spirit laid down, the interplay between distillate and wine cask promises a whisky of freshness, vibrancy, and poise.

Distilled on 29 August 2013, this cask has matured in a sherry butt before being re-racked into barrique, combining Caol Ila’s distinctive coastal peat smoke with richer layers of dried fruit, spice and oak influence. Currently sitting at 60% ABV with 82.7 regauged litres of alcohol remaining, the cask contains approximately 137.8 litres bulk, equating to an estimated outturn of around 195 bottles at natural cask strength.

This first fill 200-litre bourbon barrel was filled on 11th December 2024 at a natural strength of 63.5% ABV. Maturation in a first fill bourbon cask amplifies Torabhaig’s clean, smoky distillate, layering it with vanilla cream, toasted oak, and warm spice while still allowing the distillery’s expressive peat character to take centre stage. This refill hogshead of Craigellachie was filled on 4th November 2024 at a cask strength of 63.4% ABV. A refill cask allows the signature distillery character - gentle funk, stewed orchard fruits, cereal sweetness, and a touch of char - to take centre stage, gradually mellowing over time into a rich and complex dram. This refill hogshead has been filled with roughly 220 litres of new make spirit.

This barrel of Tormore was filled on 17th June 2025 at a natural cask strength of 63.60% ABV. American oak maturation highlights the distillery’s orchard-fruited profile, adding vanilla, honeyed sweetness, and a hint of nuttiness. The balance between spirit and wood promises an elegant development over time, evolving into a whisky that captures both freshness and depth. The barrel was filled with roughly 200 litres of new make spirit.

On the nose, classic Laphroaig notes of iodine, medicinal peat and brine immediately appear. The peat is muted at first on the palate but soon builds, delivering a dram that packs a real punch. Staoisha is the peated spirit produced at Bunnahabhain Distillery, combining the distillery`s rich, oily character with robust peat smoke and maritime influences. Bourbon maturation allows these distinctive characteristics to remain at the forefront, gradually introducing notes of vanilla, honey and soft oak while preserving the spirit`s coastal character.

This 200 litre refill barrel was filled in 2022 with Tamdhu new make at a natural cask strength of around 62 percent ABV, with an original regauge litre alcohol of 113. The use of refill American oak allows the distillery character to take centre stage, promoting slow, even maturation. Expect the spirit to develop layers of baked apple, cereal sweetness and soft toffee, supported by subtle vanilla and light oak spice rather than overt wood influence. With time, the cask should gain complexity and texture while retaining freshness and definition.

Notes of toasted biscuits and a touch of apple tart sweetness are carried by a soft creaminess, already hinting at the quality to come.
