"One of the most profound wines in the vintage is unquestionable the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Grenache de Pierre, which is 100% Grenache, from sandy soils in the la Crau lieu-dit, raised all in concrete tanks and bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby colour is followed by an incredible bouquet of black cherries, black raspberries, licoricey, dried herbs and garrigue.  Petrus is undoubtedly one of the most revered wines in the world and is often considered the pinnacle of the Pomerol appellation. Almost always made from 100% Merlot, the style of Petrus is unique and in the best vintages often achieves levels of aromatic complexity, richness and silky texture that others simply cannot. It is an exceptionally long-lived wine and can often require significant cellaring before reaching maturity and expressing its true essence.

The 1990 vintage presented an incredible follow-up to the highly acclaimed 1989 and can certainly be considered amongst the greatest ever releases from Petrus. With more concentration, richness and structure, this can probably be expected to outlive the 1989 but should be superb for drinking now.

 One of the famous wines in the world, Chateau Mouton-Rothschild is located in Pauillac, around 30 miles north-west of Bordeaux itself. The chateau pioneered the idea of bottling their own wine in the 1920s while other prorperties were still selling & exporting in barrel. A Second Growth until 1972, the winery was official elevated to the high rank of Bordeaux classification in 1973 after much campaigning by the famous Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

Alongside the quality of their wine, the chateau are also famous for their commissioning of world famous artists to create their labels with a new design featuring each year.

 Established in 1994, Sine Qua Non is possibly one of the most famous Californian cult wineries. The creation of maverick winemaker, Manfred Krankl, this winery is world-famous for producing miniscule quantities of unique Rhône Valley-inspired blends using estate-grown and purchased fruit from some of the greatest vineyards across the Central Coast. The 2005 release called Atlantis Fe203-2a is a blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Grenache and 2% Viognier sourced from the 11 Confessions, White Hawk, Alban and Bien Nacido Vineyards. Deeply dark-fruited, this exceptionally intense release also has wonderful floral perfume, savoury depth and mineral complexity. A stunning wine that scored 100-points in The Wine Advocate.

 Created in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl, Sine Qua Non is probably the most famous of all the California cult wineries and is renowned for exceptionally limited quantities of wines made from the classic Rhône Valley varieties. The 2010 Stockholm Syndrome Syrah and Grenache releases were both produced from the estate-owned Eleven Confessions vineyard and are part of the Extended Barrel-Aged series, having spent 30-40 months in oak barriques. This is a blend of 75% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 2% Roussanne and 1% Viognier.

 Clos Saint Jean Chateauneuf-du-Pape Sanctus Sanctorum 2010 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Clos Saint Jean is run by brothers Vincent and Pascal Maurel and is considered amongst the very finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sanctus Sanctorum is only produced in magnums and is made from 100% Grenache sourced from a single parcel of ancient vines in the famous lieu-dit of La Crau, matured in a combination of clay amphorae and demi-muids. "The greatest young wine I’ve ever tasted, the 2010 Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Sanctus Sanctorum is a blend of 100% Grenache, from a single plot in La Crau, that is aged all in demi-muids and bottled only in magnum. It offers an unbelievable drinking experience, with insanely good aromas of kirsch liqueur, spice-box, garrigue, liquorice, and subtle floral qualities all soaring from the glass. This is followed by a massive, yet elegant and ethereal wine that has a seamless, pure texture, perfect balance, and thrilling amounts of extract and backend tannic structure that come together perfectly on the finish. Nothing is out of place, it never seems heavy, and is not anywhere close to over the top.
