Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2010 is a distinguished white Bordeaux, crafted predominantly from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes. The nose reveals nuanced aromas of grapefruit, herbal notes and a hint of honey. On the palate, there is a noticeable balance between richness and freshness, showcasing flavours of lemon peel and ripe stone fruits. The lengthy finish reflects the wine`s concentrated character.

Green-tinged bright gold. Intense, pungent, floral-accented aromas of pear skin, stone fruits and rosemary are complicated by vanilla, smoke and dusty minerals. Explosive on entry, then sweet and dense in the middle palate, with tropical fruit and fresh herb flavors nicely lifted and extended by lively acidity. Finishes with a repeating smoky mineral character, excellent length and complexity and attractive restraint. A lovely understated white wine in the making.Ian d'Agata1st August 2011

Organic Winemaking in Pessac-Léognan

Château Smith Haut Lafitte has a long and prestigious history and, since it was acquired by the Cathiard family in 1990, has garnered a reputation as one of the finest producers in Pessac-Léognan. Certified organic since 2019, the estate produces both red and white wines, in addition to a second wine, Le Petit Smith Haut Lafitte.

With an estate spanning 80ha, seven red and white grape varieties are planted, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc for reds and Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris for whites. The red wines are generous and juicy, boasting wonderful ageability (and with less oak-dominance from 2010 onwards), whilst the whites offer both superb value and impeccable quality.
