François Cotat is renowned for crafting distinctive, intricate, and age-worthy Sancerres from his charming 3-hectare estate situated at the heart of the Chavignol commune. The vineyards are nestled on Kimmeridgian clay and Caillotte soils, adding to the unique character of the wines. Due to the steepness of the slopes, all cultivation is laborious and carried out exclusively by hand. La Grande Côte, a remarkable single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, captivates with vibrant notes of zesty lemon, grapefruit, delicate white flowers, salted almonds, and a lovely vein of minerality that gracefully weaves throughout.

Light gold. An exotic, intensely perfumed bouquet offers poached pear, pit fruits, anise, honey and smoky minerals. The most powerful of this set of wines, showing lush orchard and pit fruit flavors and sneaky minerality. The anise quality gains strength with air and carries through a sappy, focused, pure finish. Impresses with its sheer size but this wine is no slouch in the elegance department either. Josh Raynolds1st March 2010
