The estate is currently run by the husband-and-wife team Étienne Grivot and Marielle, who took over from Étienne’s father Jean Grivot in 1987. The domaine has been assembled over several generations to its current size of 15.5 hectares and includes holdings in three grand cru sites. Clos de Vougeot, Echézeaux, and Richebourg, where this cuvée comes from. The 2004 vintage is showing its full potential at the moment. superb definition, excellent fruit profile and seamless tannic structure.

Vinous
Full medium red. Aromas of black raspberry, minerals and flowers. Silky and supple, with restrained sweetness buffered by well-integrated acidity. Nicely dense and full-and quite concentrated for the vintage. This very fresh wine finishes long and solid. I'd hold off a good five or six years on this. Grivot told me that he leaves up to 12 clusters per vine here, as he does in his Echezeaux, due to the concentrating and yield-reducing effect of millerandageStephen Tanzer1st March 2007
