The Anne Gros Richebourg 2008 is a Grand Cru Burgundy, produced from Pinot Noir in the esteemed Richebourg vineyard located in Vosne-Romanée. The 2008 vintage included a cool, damp growing season, which required careful vineyard management in order to ensure optimal grape ripening. Anne Gros employs sustainable practices in her vineyards, reinforcing a commitment to quality and expression of terroir. This wine presents a focused bouquet of red fruits, notably cherry and raspberry, alongside subtle herbal nuances and earthy undertones. The palate showcases a structured body with refined tannins, balanced acidity and an extended finish, indicating potential for further cellaring.

Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Clos Vougeot. Deeper aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, flinty smoky minerality and pepper, along with a whiff of gamey reduction. Bigger, broader and sweeter than the Clos Vougeot, and amazingly supple and plump for a grand cru from this vintage, without any loss of shape. The back end is like a booster rocket of fruits and flowers, which cover the wine's acidity and noble tannins today. I'd love to taste this next to the Clos Vougeot in ten years' time.
