Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Silex 2007 is a medium- to full-bodied, single-vineyard white wine produced from Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation of the Loire Valley. Dagueneau is one of the iconic names in French natural wine-making. The domaine`s reputation was forged by the late Didier Dagueneau, who tragically died in a light aeroplane accident in 2008. Didier`s son, Benjamin, is now in charge and continue to make wines following his father` philosophy and methods. Silex is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from grapes grown on the Saint-Andlaint hill in Pouilly-Fumé. The wine is aged for 12 months in used oak barrels and then bottled without fining or filtration. On the 2007 (Didier`s last complete vintage). "Weighty, but lithe and balanced, with gorgeous, alluring notes of honeysuckle, macadamia nut, white asparagus, lemon curd, quinine and straw all carrying through seamlessly on the long, invigorating finish. This beautiful wine transcends the vintage." Wine Spectator, 2010

Greenish yellow. A kaleidoscopic nose combines lime zest, intense minerality, spicecake and white flowers. Wonderfully concentrated yet sharply focused, offering a suave blend of bracing citrus and mineral flavors and outstanding richness Strikingly deep and pure wine, finishing with strong mineral cut and superb lift and persistence. The young Benjamin Dagueneau is now in charge at this superb estate following the tragic death of his father Didier in the crash of an ultralight plane he was piloting in September of 2008.
