Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill is a prestige cuvée made in homage to the politician reflective of the qualities he enjoyed in Champagne. robustness, full-bodied character and maturity. It is therefore only made in the best vintages with old vine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards, though the exact cépage a closely guarded family secret. The 2000 release is perfectly in its drinking window, with classic richness and expressiveness of fruit, but wonderful finesse and silky texture.

The 2000 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is another vintage that's drinking at peak today, offering up aromas of yellow apples, crisp stone fruit, butter toast, honeycomb and butterscotch, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's pillowy, open-knit and charming. There's no reason to defer gratification!William Kelley9th March 2023

Light yellow-gold. Spicy, intensely perfumed aromas of lemon curd, blood orange, anise and jasmine, with a toasty overtone. Supple and concentrated, with dried citrus and hazelnut flavors complemented by ginger and buttered toast. A long, subtly floral finish shows a hint of smoky minerality and impressive energy. This is drinking well now, but I suspect that this expressive Champagne, which is probably based heavily on pinot noir (they won't say), will be at its best over the coming ten years.Josh Raynolds1st November 2012

Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill was launched in 1984 as the house's Prestige cuvée. Created in homage to Sir Winston Churchill, a lifelong lover of the Champagne House, the cuvée's style emulates the qualities that he preferred - robustness, a full-bodied character and relative maturity.
