Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2003 marks the maison`s 69th vintage release, showcasing a unique expression of Champagne borne from the tumultuous 2003 growing season. The vineyards, primarily Grand and Premier Crus, faced severe spring frosts followed by an extreme heatwave, resulting in a notably small harvest. The blend consists of 43% Meunier, 29% Pinot Noir and 28% Chardonnay, reflecting the exceptional conditions. With 13 years on the lees, this vintage offers increased complexity and texture. The disgorgement occurred in May 2017, with a dosage of 5g/l.

Pale yellow-gold. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes lemon pith, pear, iodine and chalky minerals. Ripe and densely packed but lively, offering candied citrus fruit flavors and deeper notes of anise and fig. Becomes spicier and stonier with air, finishing with strong punch and lingering smokiness and minerality. More open-knit and overtly ripe that most of the 2002 version, with plenty of depth and the richness and weight that distinguish this hot vintage.Josh Raynolds1st December 2012

The Pillar of Champagne Excellence

Moët & Chandon, founded by Claude Moët in 1743, quickly gained favor among European nobility during King Louis XV’s reign. Jean-Rémy Moët, Claude's grandson, expanded the brand internationally, with a notable friendship with Napoleon Bonaparte, who frequently visited the estate and inspired the creation of Moët Impérial.

In 1832, the company was renamed Moët et Chandon, incorporating Pierre-Gabriel Chandon de Briailles as a partner. The house launched its first vintage Champagne in 1842 and introduced the renowned Dom Pérignon label.

Now part of the LVMH group, Moët & Chandon has the largest vineyard in Champagne and extensive cellars for aging their wines. Cellar master Benoît Gouez upholds the brand’s signature style, blending grapes from various terroirs to create a harmonious product.
