Based in Meursault, Henri Boillot is a family-owned estate renowned for its proficiency in producing exceptional red and white wines. Their white wines typically undergo fermentation in 350-litre barrels and are bottled after a careful maturation period of 18 months in barrels. This release is the domaine’s village-level Meursault from the 2007 vintage. The year 2007 represents a classical vintage for white Burgundy, characterized by its vibrant acidity, fruit expression influenced by terroir, and a promising ageing potential.

Father and Son

In some ways, Henri Boillot has one foot in the past and one in the present. His family domaine, which he manages with his son Guillaume, has a history dating back to the 1880s, but the wines produced from their Meursault-based winery are undeniably modern, approachable and ranked among some of the very best in the region. Alongside operating a highly successful négociant business, the Boillot family own around 14 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune including a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole in the form of Clos de la Mouchère.

The winery don't shy away from the use of new oak and any overtly woody character is generally well balanced by ripe fruit. The Chardonnays range from citrus driven and fresher at the villages level all the way to ripe, tropical and creamy at the Grand Cru level. The reds are lighter and more elegant than they used to be with Henri's son Guillaume preferring a less extracted style of Pinot Noir.
