Cultivated according to biodynamic principles, Domaine de la Vougeraie is the largest certified organic and biodynamic producer in Burgundy’s Côte d`Or. This 2009 vintage Marc de Bourgogne is made entirely from Chardonnay grape pomace – the mix of skins, pulp, seeds and stems that remains after pressing. It is a dense but crisp spirit, with notes of apricots, lemon peel, almonds and a hint of earl grey.

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home. One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
