Laville Haut-Brion Blanc 2000 is a mature-vintage white wine from the Pessac-Léognan region of Bordeaux. The final vintage of Laville Haut-Brion Blanc was 2008 and today the wine is sold as the white wine of La Mission Haut-Brion. Original bottlings are therefore very scarce and highly sought-after. "Wild nose of exotic fruit, with pineapple, mango and lemon rind. Full-bodied and very rich--almost tannic, it`s more like a red wine. Long finish. Great Sémillon-based white. Give this many years." Wine Spectator, 2003

This stylish, medium-bodied example of Laville-Haut-Brion exhibits notes of citrus, minerals, white corn, and melons. Ripe, and precociously-styled, it should be at its best in five years and last through 2015. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Pale green-tinged color. Low-toned aromas of grilled nuts, oatmeal and honey; less fruity than the 2001. Fat and broad; in a rather dumb stage today, and showing more earth and nut tones than the brisk citrus fruit and floral aromas it displayed from barrel. This wine is often difficult to taste in the year following bottling, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it merited a 90+ rating several years hence. The '99 Laville, retasted next to this '00, was both richer and brighter than the bottle I tasted last spring, and rated a solid 92. But it's hard to believe that the 2000 will turn out as well.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2002

Long Lived Reds and Whites

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the preeminent estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is renowned for producing exceptionally concentrated and long-lived wines. The prestigious first label, La Mission Haut-Brion, is a near equal blend of Cabernet and Merlot, giving wonderfully focused wines with bramble and floral character. This illustrious estate also produces a stellar second label, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Two beautiful whites are made: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which is a aromatic, Sémillon-dominant blend with beautiful citrus and stone fruit, and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from the Château Haut-Brion estate).
