Château Latour-Martillac 2000 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-led Bordeaux blend from the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Graves. The vineyard is planted on a high gravel plateau with a subsoil of clay and limestone, providing the structural intensity and mineral complexity typical of the region. The 2000 vintage is a landmark year in Bordeaux, producing wines with exceptional balance and fruit concentration. This wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which have now fully integrated into the dense fruit. It displays a bouquet of blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings and a hint of smoky gravel. The 2000 release is currently in a beautiful state of maturity, offering a supple texture and a long, refined finish that represents the classic elegance of Graves.

A perfect moment to drink this wine, showcasing the generosity of the 2000 vintage in Pessac-Léognan, with a little less of the stubborn tannins that you still find in some of the Médoc classifieds even at the 20 year mark. This focuses on rosebud, tomato leaf, the savoury flavours of Cabernet, and plenty of tobacco and cigarbox tertiary notes, with softened raspberry and red cherry pureed fruits. Fully open and integrated, but still welcoming and with great charm. Harvest September 20 to October 19, 40% new oak.Jane Anson1st March 2022

Sweet cedar, plum, currant, and fresh herbs cascade from this evolved, dense ruby/purple-colored 2000. The flavors mirror the aromas - big, sweet, flamboyant notes of cedar, mulberries, black currants, and smoke can be found. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, concentrated, and substantial, this impressive effort should be at its finest between 2005-2016.
