The 2000 Château La Mission Haut-Brion is a sensational wine composed of 58% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vintage is generally considered to be of exceptional quality and this particular wine has been awarded a perfect 100-point score no fewer than three times from Robert Parker Jr in The Wine Advocate.

Just beginning to fully blossom into truffles and crushed roses, still with the autumnal fruits cradled by firm but fine tannins. A thoroughly seductive wine, easy to fall into, at a great moment to drink, giving hints of tertiary while still walking the line. Jean-Bernard Delmas director.Jane Anson11th June 2025

The 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion is consistent with my most recent note, although I must admit that I felt there was a touch more brett on the nose than the previous example. Black cherries and iodine to the fore, with some undergrowth and Provençal herbs, it is very complex. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced and still peppery with a saline finish. Excellent, but I`m going to detract a point for that brett. Tasted at the château.Neal Martin26th January 2023

Blackish crimson. Very deep, dense, and savoury. Deep. Satin-textured, wonderfully seductive and extremely serious. Lots and lots of stuffing. Prunes. Dry finish, but a masculine and meaty wine. Minerals. Grainy tannins. Extremely chewy. Earnest. Very, very savoury. (JR)

Long Lived Reds and Whites

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the preeminent estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is renowned for producing exceptionally concentrated and long-lived wines. The prestigious first label, La Mission Haut-Brion, is a near equal blend of Cabernet and Merlot, giving wonderfully focused wines with bramble and floral character. This illustrious estate also produces a stellar second label, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Two beautiful whites are made: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which is a aromatic, Sémillon-dominant blend with beautiful citrus and stone fruit, and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from the Château Haut-Brion estate).
