Krug Vintage 2000 embodies the meticulous craftsmanship associated with this renowned Champagne house, established by Joseph Krug in 1843. This vintage presents a complex blend of predominantly Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay and a smaller proportion of Pinot Meunier. Aged for over 12 years on the lees, it showcases the house`s commitment to depth and character. As part of the prestigious LVMH Group since 1999, Krug utilises traditional methods that highlight the individuality of each vintage. This release exemplifies the house`s philosophy of producing exceptional cuvées designed for extended ageing.

Brioche, dried pear, smoke, almonds, chamomile and wild herbs are all laced together in Krug`s 2000 Vintage. A wine of striking depth and resonance, the 2000 is absolutely gorgeous today. The first signs of very early tertiary complexity have begun to appear while the acidity is softening, both of which make the 2000 delicious today. At the same time, there is no hurry. I imagine the 2000 will still be gorgeous 20 years from now. Slight elements of reduction linger on the close. The blend is 43% Chardonnay, 42% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, a rare vintage in which Chardonnay is quite high. ID 313041.Antonio Galloni1st November 2014

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
