Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 1996 is a mature-vintage, full-bodied white Bordeaux blend from the Grave region. Domaine de Chevalier is a prestigious wine property in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Graves. Founded in 1770, it was ranked among the Crus Classés for red and white wine in the Classification of Graves wine of 1953 and 1959. This is the estate’s flagship white wine, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. "A tightly knit Bordeaux white, built for aging. Full-bodied and powerful, its intense aromas of mineral, apple, spice and honey are followed in the mouth by a compact and rich fruit structure and lively acidity. This estate is always tops. Needs some cellar time." Wine Spectator, 1999

Vinous
More restrained but ultimately more nuanced aromas of spices, flowers, vanilla and honey. Firmer and more structured on the palate, with terrific intensity and a strong spine of acidity. A vin de garde for this wine, and one that should show flamboyant terroir character with extended aging. Very long finish, with fruit complemented by spicy, vanillin oak.Stephen Tanzer1st May 1998
