Domaine de Chevalier is an illustrious Grand Cru Classé estate situated in Pessac-Léognan and is highly regarded for their superbly balanced and long-lived red and white wines. The 2016 vintage is a sublime follow-up to the excellent 2015 offering wonderful purity, depth, freshness and length. A classic blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, this is a wine of enormous potential and should have at least a 30-40-year lifespan.

The 2016 Domaine de Chevalier is a classy affair on the nose: nothing ambitious or self-aggrandizing, just beautifully defined black fruit laced with pine needles and wilted irises. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, filigreed tannin, pitch-perfect acidity and a captivating sense of mineralité toward the persistent finish. This is an outstanding Domaine de Chevalier, possessing a surfeit of pedigree and breeding. Neal Martin1st January 2019
