Owned by the Bernard family since 1983, Domaine de Chevalier is an illustrious Grand Cru Classé estate situated in Pessac-Léognan. The 2010 release is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Cassis and blackberry character mingles with dark chocolate and minty nuances.

Tannic grip still very much in control, still with the sculpted quality that you find in the 2009 Chevalier. Cocoa bean, cassis, wet stone minerality, a sliver of joy hiding among the intense concentrated black fruits and liquorice root, I suggest giving it another three or four years to get the architecture to really relax. A brilliant way to see the difference in character between the two vintages. Harvest October 6 to 19. 33% new oak for ageing.Jane Anson10th October 2024
Vinous
The 2010 Domaine de Chevalier offers smudged red fruit on the nose, black cherries and crushed violet. It comes across more like a Right Bank wine. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, but it does not quite deliver the complexity and backbone to the same degree as the Les Carmes Haut-Brion or La Chapelle de la Mission tasted alongside. Not bad, but not the best in show. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. Neal Martin1st April 2020
