Château de Fieuzal 2009 is a Pessac-Léognan blend, predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This vintage exhibits characteristics typical of the warm Graves region, showcasing a profile marked by blackcurrant and subtle smoky notes. The high level of phenolic ripeness achieved in 2009 contributes to a structured palate, with pronounced tannins reflecting the year’s generous conditions.

The 2009 de Fieuzal has a taut and rather backward bouquet, but it unfurls with aeration with black olive and gravelly scents. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This is so beautifully balanced with a nigh perfect line of acidity and a silky smooth yet persistent finish that is top class. Superb. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. 92 Robert Parker
A terrific, classic Graves with notes of subtle smoke, black raspberries, black currants, graphite and unsmoked cigar tobacco, this full-bodied, deep, concentrated de Fieuzal is far more generous and deep than most vintages of the past. There is also a wonderful freshness and length to this somewhat oversized de Fieuzal while it still maintains its elegance and class. Drink it over the next 20-25 years.

Blueish purple. Light rather formless nose. Sweet start – too Napa Valley really! Rather drying tannins on the finish. Over extracted. Hollow. (JR)
