Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château de Fieuzal earned the prestigious Graves Grand Cru Classé designation in 1959 as part of the Graves classification. In the winemaking process, the estate employs a combination of stainless steel and barrel fermentation for their red grapes. Subsequently, these wines mature in French oak barrels. The Grand Vin rouge, which prominently features Cabernet Sauvignon along with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is aged for a duration of 16-24 months. The 2000 vintage delivered a bountiful harvest, marked by its exceptional quality. The wines produced were notable for their richness, tannic structure, and deep, vibrant coloration. This particular vintage is widely acknowledged as the most outstanding since 1990, particularly for its consistency across all facets of Bordeaux.

Aromas of lead pencil, tobacco leaf, licorice, and creme de cassis are offered in an outstanding, medium to full-bodied, concentrated style. There is tremendous purity as well as flavor dimension. This opaque ruby/purple-colored offering is one of the finest de Fieuzals produced over the last decade. Anticipated maturity. 2007-2022. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
