Domaine Coche-Dury was officially founded in 1973 by Jean-François Coche and is one of the most revered producers of Chardonnay in the world, with a devoted following for their exceptional quality wines. Perhaps their most coveted wine is the Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne which comes from a tiny 0.33-hectare parcel that was planted in 1960. 2004 is an oft-overlooked vintage for white Burgundy and this is an exceptional release that has impeccable balance between rich fruits, vibrant acidity and chalky-mineral depth.

Vinous
The 2004 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has an intense nose of yellow plum, Japanese yuzu and popcorn. But the quality really lies on the palate with its killer line of acidity and mineralité. It's not a voluminous or weighty Corton-Charlemagne, nor does it come near the breathtaking precision of the '05, yet the 2004 has an endearing lemon balm finish. Interestingly, whilst initially ahead of Roumier's '04 Corton-Charlemagne, by the end of the evening this is just a couple of steps behind. Tasted at the Richebourg vertical dinner in Taipei.
