Maison Louis Jadot is renowned for its unwavering quality as both a grower and négociant in Burgundy, boasting an extensive range of wines that span from approachable Bourgogne to the long-ageing Grand Crus. This particular wine hails from Clos Vougeot, a Grand Cru vineyard with origins dating back to the 11th century when Cistercian monks first established it. The 2009 vintage marked a remarkable year for French wine production, delivering outstanding quality across various regions, including Burgundy, Champagne, the Rhône, the Loire, and Alsace.
91 Vinous
Bright, deep red. Slightly high-toned aromas of crushed cherry, menthol, flowers and sweet oak. Sappy and savory on the palate, with a restrained sweetness to the dark fruit and licorice flavors and a complicating element of wild potpourri spices. This tactile, masculine Clos-Vougeot shows a lot of medicinal reserve today and should be forgotten for seven or eight years.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2012
