Eugénie Clos Vougeot 2009 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Clos Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. Domaine d`Eugénie came into existence through the acquisition of the René Engel estate in Vosne-Romanée by François Pinault of Château Latour. This estate comprises 6.5 hectares of strategically situated, predominantly old vineyards across various esteemed appellations, including Vosne villages, Vosne-Romanée, Aux Brûlée, Échezeaux, Grands Échezeaux, and Clos du Vougeot. "Background floral notes combine with ripe, earthy, sombre and notably serious aromas that lead to dense, powerful and tautly muscular flavours that brim with an amazing amount of tannin-buffering dry extract, all wrapped in a velvety, firm and linear finish. This is genuinely sensational and one of the very best examples of the appellation in the 2009 vintage though I hasten to point out that patience will be required." Burghound, 2012

Vinous
The 2009 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is one of the early vintages from the estate (its fourth vintage). It has a high-toned bouquet that doesn't deliver the bandwidth of a great Clos de Vougeot. It's bullish, but it is missing some breeding. The palate is conspicuously sweet on the entry with candied red fruit. A little cloying? The lush finish needs a more acidic bite. So-so.
