Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of the finest producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Despite being a large landholder in the region, they focus on crafting only three red and two white wines, with this being their unequivocal flagship. This traditional wine is typically composed of approximately 65% Grenache Noir, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Cinsault, and 10% Syrah sourced from 70-year-old vines in the lieu-dit of La Crau. The 2000 vintage presents a distinct olive tapenade aroma, accompanied by hints of orange peel, rosemary, and thyme, with a palate featuring blackcurrants.
90 Vinous
Medium red-ruby. Warm, inviting aromas of smoky red fruits, tobacco and black pepper. Bright and gripping on entry, then juicy and brisk in the middle, with slightly medicinal red fruit, mineral and tobacco flavors and somewhat clenched tannins. A restrained Chateauneuf that's currently hiding its flesh. But has a classic structure for aging. Stephen Tanzer1st January 2003

A Legacy from La Crau

Perched on the famed La Crau plateau, Vieux Télégraphe has been a pillar of excellence in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for over a century. The estate’s vineyards, planted with old vines that thrive in the region’s stony soils, produce wines that are both powerful and elegant. Under the stewardship of the Brunier family, Vieux Télégraphe has maintained a commitment to traditional winemaking, allowing the terroir to shine through in every vintage.

The estate’s wines, particularly the iconic La Crau, are celebrated for their complexity, structure, and ability to age gracefully over decades. Whether you’re enjoying a young vintage or one with years of bottle age, Vieux Télégraphe’s wines offer a profound expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s storied terroir.
