Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2004 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the southern Rhône Valley of France. Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the iconic red wines of the southern Rhône. Tracing its history back to 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel purchased his first plot of Coudoulet vines, the estate has been operated since 1909 by successive generations of the Perrin family. Beaucastel continues to reside among the elite producers of the region, crafting terroir red wines which harness the complementary characteristics of the appellation`s 13 traditional grape varieties. "Thoroughly primal, with a torrent of raspberry and boysenberry fruit rushing forth. Only shows hints of its full range, with liquorice, incense, graphite and mocha flavours fluttering in the background. Has an iron-clad structure, with a long finish that shows great cut and grip." Wine Spectator, 2007

Ruby-red. Powerful red and dark berry aromas verge on liqueur-like but are enlivened by zesty mineral and anise accents. Lush, supple and sweet, with deep raspberry and cherry flavors, fine-grained tannins and complicating herb and smoked meat tones. Very smooth on the finish, which is sappy, deep in cherry flavor and impressively long.Josh Raynolds1st January 2007
