Aubert Ritchie Chardonnay 2008 is a barrel-fermented white wine originating from the Sonoma Coast. It showcases the characteristics of the Wente clone, a preferred choice among esteemed Chardonnay producers. Winemaker Mark Aubert is dedicated to crafting wines inspired by the philosophies of Burgundy, notably influenced by Leflaive. The 2008 vintage offers complexity, featuring notes of stone fruits and a subtle integration of oak, reflecting the wine`s time in barrel. With a balanced acidity, it delivers a structured profile that is indicative of its provenance from the Ritchie Vineyard.
95 Robert Parker
The 2008 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard comes from 30+ year old vines of the Old Wente clone, which was apparently a suitcase clone taken from Louis Latour’s parcels in Corton-Charlemagne, just north of Beaune. It exhibits a beautiful honeyed citrus, nectarine, crushed rock, honeysuckle and tropical fruit blossom-scented bouquet, terrific stuffing, good acidity and wonderful density as well as richness. Because of the tiny yields in that vintage, the 2008s tend to be more concentrated than the 2009s, which are more elegant, lower in alcohol and not quite as dense. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

(15.1% alcohol) Deep, slightly hazy yellow. Vibrant aromas of orange rind, dried lemon, crushed stone and floral oils. Round, sweet and lush but with a firm spine of acidity providing shape. The wine's sexy sweetness and fruit intensity are nicely counterpointed by a saline minerality. More opulent than the Lauren but perhaps not quite as gripping on the finish.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2010

Aubert

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
