Aubert Ritchie Chardonnay 2007 is a full-bodied, barrel-fermented white wine from the Sonoma Coast of California. Crafted by winemaker Mark Aubert, this wine is sourced from the renowned Ritchie Vineyard, known for its old Wente clone Chardonnay. The 2007 vintage showcases a distinctive expression of the terroir, offering a balanced profile with flavours of citrus, stone fruit and subtle minerality.

While Mark Aubert no longer produces wines from the famed Ritchie vineyard, in the past it produced a fantastic string of classic Aubert-style, age-worthy Chardonnays from 30+-year-old Old Wente clone vines. Bright, lemon-gold in color with a slightly green tinge at the rim, the 2007 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard has a glorious nutty, baked peaches and dried apricot-scented nose with hints of lemon butter and cinnamon toast plus a waft of fresh hay. It has a savory-laced, full-bodied palate, completely coating the mouth with lemon curd and nutty/toasty notes, finishing on a persistent minerally note. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
94 Vinous
(15.6% alcohol with a pH of 3.4; from old Wente clones) Medium yellow. Aromas of lemon drop, wild herbs and honey, with a slightly candied character. Dense and thick but lively, with strong acidity and a floral element lifting the concentrated citrus fruit flavors. The wine's sweetness and silky texture are leavened by its firm acid spine, with a late note of green tea contributing piquancy. Actually rather backward today, with the dry, broad, citric finish showing superb persistence.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2009

Aubert

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
