The Aubert Reuling Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007 is an expression of a single-vineyard terroir from the Sonoma Coast region. This wine showcases complex layers of fruit, earthiness, and subtle spice. With a deep ruby hue, it offers aromas of cherry and plum, alongside hints of forest floor. The structure is refined, exhibiting balanced acidity and tannin integration. Aubert Wines, founded by winemaker Mark Aubert, is noted for its meticulous vineyard practices and a commitment to producing limited, high-quality wines.
93 Vinous
(15.5% alcohol; half from a Vosne-Romanee clone and half from a Calera clone) Deep red with ruby highlights. Nose dominated by purple and blue fruits, along with violet, black tea and a whiff of dark berry pastille; showing little sign of the heavy-toast new oak. Sappy flavors of crushed black fruits are quite closed, even a bit youthfully tough, revealing little easy sweetness today and superb underlying tannic structure. Less complex today than the UV: in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this shut down in bottle for at least a few years and emerged to merit an even higher rating. From a cooler site, harvested late. Aubert did a 45-day maceration for his pinots in 2007, sealing the tank to retain the CO2 He believes this allowed the tannins to flesh out at the end of this process.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2009

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
